A strange one in terms of the fact that musically and lyrically it's not aligned at all; the melodies and chord progressions are quite upbeat whereas the lyrics... aren't! It's the first time in a very long while that I've added lead and backing…

No loops...no samples... just a melody rolling around my head. I wanted to create a really retro bass tone on this so I used my Frankenbass Precision - recently fettled with upgraded pickups, flat wound strings and a high mass bridge. It sounds…

This is a really old idea exhumed from the hard drive - it's so old I don't own either of the basses played on this anymore! The guitar riff was born from an Apple loop that I twisted around and is one of those that sounds like the 80s again…

Two things triggered the genesis of this one - firstly an enforced absence from work due to a nasty medical 'thing'... and discovering a really nice piano loop that I then chopped around by changing the key and adding some different melodies…

Really simple tune built around a heavily modified Apple Loop. Reminds me in places of Simple Minds; the guitar could be developed and with a decent vocalist there's an opportunity for some sing-along stuff - The bass is my short scale Fender Mustang

Was going to add vocals to this but there ended up being too much going on so I left it as an instrumental; I do seem to love an arpeggiator!

(Remastered 22/10/2021) I've been missing in action for ages - apologies to all, I'm about to start listening again too. For ages, I'd been considering a move away from my trusty Boss BR1600 on which I've recorded and mixed nearly everything…

Written and recorded as part of our family RPM project this year. :-D 13 year old Jasmine on vocals and ukulele. We wrote and recorded 10 songs under the name Cattica. It was just the best month of lockdown imaginable.

(Remastered 22/10/2021) I found this one while I was digging through the shoe-box for the 1994 songs. Apparently I wrote it on 10th November 1995. Foolishly, I thought it would only take a week or so to record... I was originally expecting…

(Remastered 22/10/2021) OK, let's delve once more into the magical shoebox of unused songs... I've already recorded several that were written in 1994 (Sleeping with the Ghost, Elizabeth's Room, With Mum Again, If You Knew, A Hundred and…

Back in 1985 I was in a band at school - at that time I didn't play an instrument; I was the singer (!) This track was entitled 'Dreaming In Colour' (the music written by band members Giles Hancock and Tim Finch) and I thought it would be fun…

Tim here. Yup very faithful to our original 1985 version! How on earth we passed any O levels at all is beyond me!

Hard not to sing along with the aaahs! A big, beautiful sound! Great confident vox!

Well, my entry for RPM 2022 went from LP to (a very short) 4 song EP but this track I think has bags of potential. It was a discarded idea from a few years ago that was lurking in my 'half-baked' Logic folder but something in it ignited my creative…

Great bass work - and liking the open air, blue sky feel.

So with renewed focus on RPM 2022 I set about at least creating an EP if an album wasn't possible... This track was written and recorded over a period when there seemed to be relentless storms following each other without respite. Power cuts aside…

The first new composition since being back in the UK; heavily chorused Precision fitted with flat wound strings gives it a nice retro feel along with a Roland Jupiter 8 synthesiser plug-in I wanted to add vocals but am suffering with a heavy cold!

A 50-something bloke noodling around with a bass guitar in a posh shed. I made lots of music between 2019 and 2021 whilst in Dubai under the name of dxbisolation.

Now back in blighty ‘enjoying’ things…
